My top tips:
Remember the rule of thirds - if you're hanging anything above the bed (art, wall hanging, a shelf) it should span about two-thirds the width of the bedhead
Similarly with paneling - come one-third of the way in, and leave the rest open if you like an asymmetric look
Hang your pieces 20-25cm above the top of the bedhead
Space artwork 5-10cm apart
If you're hanging pendants above your side table, leave 45-60cm between the table and the bottom of the pendant
Use a narrow picture ledge so you don't bash your head
